The year 2020 continues to shape up as a major one to catch classic bands in live performances. The latest to announce a tour are the Rolling Stones.
The legendary band has announced a continuation of their recent ‘No Filter’ tour, with a handful of North American performances that will take them into the summer.
The shows will be stadium affairs, starting on May 8 in San Diego and wrapping up (for now) July 9 in Atlanta. A pre-sale launches Feb. 12; a general ticket sale follows on Feb. 14. Currently, the only Canadian date on the schedule is May 12th in Vancouver. You can see the dates below.
In a prepared statement, Mick Jagger said, “It’s always a pleasure to return to North America and play for some of the biggest and best crowds in the world!” Keith Richards added, “We had the best time on the road last summer, and we are ready to do it again!”
Over the last few weeks, there were hints being dropped that the band would be making an official announcement. On the band’s Instagram account, the band posted that they were “feeling restless.” You can see that Instagram post via the link below.
The ‘No Filter’ tour first launched in 2017, making an initial landing in Europe. The tour moved to North America in 2019 but was halted due to Mick Jagger undergoing heart surgery. Is this the last hurrah for the band? The key members, Jagger, Richards, Charlie Watts, and Ron Wood are all in their 70’s. Wood doesn’t see the band slowing down, in fact, he has been teasing a new album for 2020.
There is no doubt that there is still an audience that wants to and needs to see the Stones. They were the second-highest-grossing touring act of the past decade, surpassed only by U2.
