Ready for another ‘Supergroup’?

COVID19 has put much of the music industry on hold, however, it has also helped strike up new alliances. The latest to form as a result of being in isolation is a new “supergroup” called, the Wheelblocks.

The band consists of Chris Jericho (Fozzy), Nita Strauss (Alice Cooper), Phil Demmel (Vio-lence, ex-Machine Head), Johnny Christ (Avenged Sevenfold) and Strauss’ longtime boyfriend Josh Villalta. The band has hit the ground running with its first recording, a cover version of the Iron Maiden’s “Aces High.” The song will make its debut online on Thursday, August 6 at 11:00 a.m. In the meantime, a brief teaser clip via Strauss’ Twitter account is available below.

Jericho, who is not new to forming ‘supergroups, said in a recent interview, “Unlike the other things I’ve done, the Wheelblocks is a lot more star power – including a member of Alice’s band. Some things are still under wraps, and you’ll find out more in the days to come.”

Jericho is also a member of Kuarantine, another rock “supergroup” which primarily perfoms cover versions of songs of KISS during their non-makeup days. The band, Kuarantine, has released two singlesr, “Heart Of Chrome” and “No No No,” and also includes drummer Kent Slucher (Luke Bryan), guitarist Joe McGinness (Klassik ’78) and bassist PJ Farley (Trixter).
