Canada gets to be first in line to hear music from Pearl Jam’s new studio album, ‘Gigaton,’ in a live setting. The band has announced a date of March 27 for the release of its 11th album, along with tour dates that will start in Canada.
On the band’s website, guitarist Mike McCready spoke about the new album. “Making this record was a long journey. It was emotionally dark and confusing at times, but also an exciting and experimental road map to musical redemption.” He added, “Collaborating with my bandmates on Gigaton ultimately gave me greater love, awareness, and knowledge of the need for human connection in these times.”
Produced by Josh Evans along with the band, ‘Gigaton’ is Pearl Jam’s first record since 2013’s ‘Lightning Bolt.’ “Dance of the Clairvoyants” is the first single, expected in the next few weeks. The new album is available for pre-order at Pearl Jam’s website.
Coinciding with the announcement of the album, North American tour dates have also been released. Pearl Jam will play 16 shows across North America, including four Canadian dates, starting March 18 at the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto. There is no Montreal date, and until further dates are announced, the tour will conclude on April 19 after the second of two shows at the Oakland Arena.
