New tour, new music: TOOL

Los Angeles hard rockers, TOOL, are set to resume their 2019 tour, and fans might be in for a treat: according to The Pulse Of Radio, TOOL vocalist Maynard James Keenan has hinted that the band might preview some new music on upcoming tour dates.

Keenan used social media, specifically a meme on Twitter to break the news, posting “Feeling cute. Might play some new material on this upcoming tour. I don’t know.” The meme was accompanied by the hashtags “#riotgearretired” and “#whileyouwerewhiningwewereworking.”

Guitarist Adam Jones seemed to be playing along, posting a clip of himself on Instagram with the comment, “getting ready for Sunday.” Jones is seen playing a riff that sounds similar to a portion of the song “Descending,” which is an unreleased song that the band has included in its live sets over the past few years.

The band’s last album was over a decade ago – 2006’s ‘10,000 Days.’ While there has not been any official confirmation when or if new music will arrive, in February Keenan did say, “Best ballpark guess — release date somewhere between mid-May and mid-July. More focused updates to follow as we progress.”

TOOL’s tour resumes this upcoming weekend (May 5) when the band appears at Welcome To Rockville in Jacksonville, FL. This will be followed up by a string of summer U.S. and European festival slots.
