The 1980s ‘hair band’ revival seems to be continuing: along with the hype and interest with the recent Motley Crue biopic “The Dirt,” comes the news that Bret Michaels announcing that Poison will return in 2020 with “an incredible tour.” He also said that there were hopes that the band would do some new recordings.
Poison completed their successful “Nothin’ But A Good Time” tour in 2018 with Cheap Trick and Pop Evil. You have to go back to 2002 for Poison’s last album of new material, ‘Hollyweird.’ Their last release was an album of covers, ‘Poison’d,’ which was released in 2007.
Michaels was interviewed March 26) on “Trunk Nation,” and he confirmed that the band will be back on the road in 2020. “One thousand percent, next year, all of us will be back out, and we’re gonna make it unbelievable.” He added, “Poison is gonna bring, again, an awesome show next year.”
For the fans wondering what they can expect next year in a Poison show, Michaels said: “We’re gonna put a new look together, and hopefully a new song or two.” Michaels confirmed that the band have spoken about new music: “I said, ‘guys, let’s just write one awesome, modern-day, now, today, a ‘Nothin’ But A Good Time,’ a modern-day ‘Talk Dirty To Me,’ a ‘Ride The Wind,’ then let’s just go take it out on the road with all the hits and have a great time.'”
Going back to last summer, bassist Bobby Dall spoke about new music. He said, “I don’t know if it’s going to happen, it’s a matter of everyone having the time. Should we be making a new record? Yes, definitely.”
