Lynyrd Skynyrd have extended their ‘Last of the Street Survivors Farewell Tour,’ adding eight Canadian dates. The new dates are shown below, and for the most part, it will be western Canadian fans that will benefit.
Tickets for the new dates go on sale Feb. 8; more information is available on the band’s website.
The might be ending their touring but this isn’t signaling the end of Lynyrd Skynyrd. Original member, guitarist Gary Rossington, said that the band have plans to stay together even after they leave the road. “After a few years of doin’ this farewell tour, we’re gonna do a new record,” he added, “So, we won’t go away, but we won’t be touring every year like we do.”
It appears that the band members are having fun playing with the idea of a ‘farewell’ tour. Recently, Rossington, Johnny Van Zant and Rickey Medlocke appeared on ‘Speakeasy,’ with Van Zant joking, “I was talking to the guys and they said, ‘You know the best part of a farewell tour?’ I said, ‘No, what’s that?’ They said, ‘The reunion tour!’
