One of the most popular and successful prog-Rock bands, Genesis, will reunite this fall to play 10 dates in the UK and Ireland in late 2020.
Phil Collins, Tony Banks and Mike Rutherford, the core of the band, will play eight shows kicking off at Dublin’s 3 Arena on November 16, and ending up at Glasgow’s SSE Hydro Arena on December 11. There are no US or Canadian dates on the present schedule.
Titled “The Last Domino? Tour,” will hit venues in Liverpool, Newcastle, London, Leeds, Birmingham and Manchester, England, and Glasgow, Scotland. Tour dates as currently scheduled, are shown below, and tickets go on sale Friday, March 6 at 3 a.m. EST (9 a.m. BST).
Rutherford commented on BBC Radio 2: “I think it’s a natural moment. Phil’s been out on tour the last two and a half years doing his stuff and it sort of seemed … the natural moment to have a conversation about it. We’re all good friends, we’re all above grass and here we are.”
The last Genesis performance was in 2007 to mark the 40th anniversary of their Charterhouse School in Surrey. For this new tour, Collins’s 18-year-old son Nicholas will play drums while long-time Collins guitarist Daryl Stuermer will handle guitar and bass. Regarding his own involvement and specifically playing drums, Collins said, “I’ll be doing my best to play some bits on the tour.” Rutherford added this comment, “I’m looking forward to doing it. I worked it out and we’ve only done two shows in the U.K. in the last 28 years, so we haven’t over-worked it.”
Of course, the obvious absence remains that of founding lead singer Peter Gabriel who at present is not involved in the reunion.
