Frehley getting some help from his friends

Ace Frehley released his covers album, ‘Origins Vol 1’ in 2016. It included his take on tracks by artists such as Cream and Thin Lizzy, as well as new versions of several Kiss songs which were written but not sung by Frehley. It now appears he’s finished the follow-up, ‘Origins Vol. 2’, and a couple of the artists contributing their talents are, Robin Zander of Cheap Trick and Lita Ford.

While there has been no official announcement yet, in recent interviews Frehley has hinted at an October release. He also confirmed the involvement of his high-profile friends, saying the music for ‘Origins Vol 2’ has “surpassed my expectations. I got Lita Ford singing (the Rolling Stones‘) ‘Jumpin’ Jack Flash,’ and she’s amazing. I also have Robin Zander singing ‘30 Days in the Hole’ by Humble Pie. Robin killed it – he sounds like a young Steve Marriott.”

On the first covers album, Frehley blasted through a version of Led Zeppelin “Bring It On Home.” It appears that he is continuing that trend: On the new covers album, he has Zep’s “Good Times Bad Times.”

Health-wise, Frehley says he’s in a good place: “I’m actually having more fun now than I did in my 50s. Sobriety might have something to do with it. I’m in better shape and I’m a lot more creative now.”

Frehley has released five albums since 2009’s ‘Anomaly.’
