Deep Purple aren’t letting the slowdown in the music world impede their movements. They have released a new song, “Nothing at All,” from their upcoming album ‘Whoosh!’‘
The release of ‘Whoosh!’ was pushed back to August 7th, 2020, due to the coronavirus pandemic. The new album will be the band’s 21st studio release, following 2017’s ‘inFinite.’ It also features the previously issued songs, “Man Alive” and “Throw My Bones.” The album was recorded in March 2019 in Nashville, with noted producer Bob Ezrin at the helm. Ezrin also produced both ‘inFinite’ and the 2013 release, ‘Now What?!’

In an earlier interview with Billboard, lead vocalist Ian Gillan spoke about the ‘Whoosh!’ sessions: “When we first met in Toronto, Bob said that he wanted us to be like we are on stage and jam and improvise and make songs out of that and not worry about how long they are or any of those side issues. He was like, ‘Let’s do what Deep Purple does and it’ll all work out,‘ and the results of that have become manifest.”
As per Deep Purple’s website, the current tour schedule shows a pair of September dates in Sweden followed by an extensive run of European and U.K. shows starting in summer 2021.
