A world without the Beatles?

Creative script writing? You have to admit that the outline for this movie sounds fascinating: Pop star Ed Sheeran has revealed that he has been cast in his first major acting role, an upcoming movie about a man who wakes up one morning to discover he’s the only person who remembers the Beatles – and rises to fame by claiming their music as his own.

The film currently has no title, although unconfirmed reports suggest the movie could be called ‘All You Need Is Love.’ The script was written by romantic comedy veteran Richard Curtis and directed by Oscar winner Danny Boyle. Shooting has been completed in various locations around England. It is expected to hit screens in September 2019.

Speaking with the Associated Press about the storyline, Sheeran who plays himself, said, “Yeah, it’s very clever. I discover the lead actor and take him on tour, then he gets much, much bigger than me through doing stuff.” Sheeran also spoke about his first foray into acting, “I got to actually learn how to act. … This was like full days on set, like full 12-hour days.”

An aspect that helped with the grueling schedule was that some of the shooting was planned around sites of Sheeran’s shows. He noted, “It was shot around loads of my gigs. So it was a very intense two months, because I would have four days of gigging and then three days of shooting a film.”

The Telegraph reported that British TV actor Himesh Patel plays the lead role, with appearances from Lily James, Kate McKinnon, Joel Fry and others.
