As the year draws to an end I look back and see great accomplishment, and though there were challenges and setbacks, the year seems to have flashed before my eyes. In the end, the station has improved and our audience has grown. With just days to go before 2018 begins, our listener base has grown to a total audience of close to twenty thousand listeners. Many of you return on a daily basis while others drop by once or twice a week. I wish to thank each and every one of you for making Mountain City Rock the success it has become and what it will be in the future.
As you’ve no doubt noticed, we’ve begun what is essentially an expansion of our scope of operations with the launch of the ALL NEW Mountain City Rock website. Drawing on my background in news radio, we will, going forward, bring you the latest news from the rock world, not only on the air but through the website as well. I sure hope you like the new site and will embrace it as you have the station overall.
I want to take this opportunity to thank some of the new team members who joined us in recent weeks, who make a daily contribution and without whom, none of this would be possible. Jim Connell, who gets up before dawn, each and everyday, to bring you the latest news from Montreal and The World on The Rock Show 6a to 9a Monday through Friday. Marvin Matthews, who came onboard as Senior Writer for the Mountain City Rock website. Alex Rose, our resident Movie Critic, who joins us twice a week to talk about what’s happening on the big screen and small screen. He’s also making a contribution as a writer for the website. Kosta Papoulias, of Montreal Hockey Talk who shares his analysis of Habs hockey with us during the morning show.
And last, but not least, Eric Ferron of Karisma Audio, our IT and Pro Audio-Sound Engineering Consultant, who’s patience and collaboration along with mastering engineer Guy Hebert, helped us in achieving the outstanding sound quality that has allowed Mountain City Rock to set itself apart from other online stations. Eric has been involved with Mountain City Rock from the beginning and his ongoing work and support is a major asset to us.
All this hard work and the long hours, certainly take their toll, as you can imagine – so we are taking an extended break this holiday season. As a result, our regular programs and programming blocks The Rock Show with Michael Dean, The Power Hour, Masters Of Metal and The Pioneers Of Rock, will not be aired during the break. We will return to our regular schedule as of January 8th 2018. I apologize in advance if this proves a disappointment to any of you. But this is a well earned break for everyone involved.
In closing, I again wish to thank our audience for embracing Mountain City Rock and wish you all Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. May 2018 be another great year for you and for Mountain City Rock.
