Making good on his promise to join his band on selected dates, guitarist Glenn Tipton hit the stage with his Judas Priest bandmates June 9 at the Sweden Rock Festival in Sölvesborg, Sweden.
Tipton, now 70, performed on the three-song encore, “Metal Gods,” “Breaking The Law” and “Living After Midnight” – the same three songs that he has played at a few shows on the band’s current tour. Fan-filmed video footage of his appearance can be seen below.
It was in February of this year when Tipton revealed that he has Parkinson’s disease – a degenerative condition that he’s been suffering with for at least half a decade earlier. At the same time he announced he was going to sit out touring activities in support of Priest‘s latest album, ‘Firepower.’
Tipton plans to continue making guest appearances at shows. In a recent interview, he said, “As long as I’m capable of going on stage and doing my parts and doing it well. I love it — I love to be on stage with Priest, and I’ll do it for as long as I can.”
Judas Priest kicked off the ‘Firepower’ world tour on March 13 at Mohegan Sun Arena in Wilkes-Barre, PA. The North American leg of the tour wrapped on May 1 in San Antonio, TX.
