In a few days, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame will make its official announcement as to who the inductees will be for 2019. If fan voting has its say – and it does affect the overall voting – then look for Stevie Nicks and Def Leppard, among others, to join the hallowed halls.
With five days to go until the ballot closes, both acts look to have secured the fan vote for induction n 2019. Thus far, fans have responded in great numbers, with more than 3 million votes having been cast since polling opened in October. Nicks and Def Leppard took early leads from the 13 other contenders. Leppard has secured more than 504,000 votes, with Nicks in second place with nearly 400,000. Other potential inductees who are faring well in fan voting are, Todd Rundgen with more than 333,000; the Zombies with nearly 300,000 and the Cure who were fifth with around 245,000.
Other acts faring well in fan voting but who are likely to fall short of induction include, Janet Jackson, Dev2o, Roxy Music, Rage Against the Machine, Radiohead, John Prine and LL Cool J all with between 100,000 and 200,000 votes.
Fans are allowed to vote once a day every day until 11.59PM ET on Dec. 9. The top five artists will have a fan vote added to the votes submitted in their favor by official associates of the Rock Hall. Since the fan vote began in 2012, all the artists who’ve won it have gone on to be inducted.
