If you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em: Def Leppard are joining some of their UK mates in the brewing war.
The hard rockers have joined with American craft bewery, Elysian Brewing, for the release of ‘Def Leppard Pale’ – a beer that fuses the infamous malt bodies of British ales with the Pacific Northwest hops. The brew will be released on May 23, to coincide with the Def Leppard – Journey 2018 tour.
The brew will be available in 16oz cans and on draught at most concert venues and select restaurants, bars and pubs near the venue. The can was designed in tribute to the 30th anniversary of the band’s llandmark album ‘Hysteria.’ A video preview can be seen below
Lead vocalist Joe Elliott told Billboard, “The brew tastes great — that’s the most important thing I can tell you. I wouldn’t be doing an interview on this if I didn’t like it. That to me is the most important thing.”
As for whether Def Leppard Pale will have a life beyond the Journey tour, Elliott says: “There’s no cut-off time on this. If it takes off and people like it, it can be around.”
There are a host of hard rock musicians who have taken their talents to areas beyond music and into the areas of ale and alcohol. Among the many that have put their names to brews are Iron Maiden and KISS.
