They’ve been dropping hints via video and interviews for months, now keyboardist Jordan Rudess of Dream Theater has added more intrigue to the mix: “This is gonna be such an amazing record. It’s got so much energy. [I’m] very happy with all the keyboard parts. Listening back, all you can do is smile.”
Rudess announced that the progressive metal giants have finished recording all the parts for their follow-up to 2016’s ‘The Astonishing’ album, and that they’re looking at early 2019 for a release.
Earlier this year, vocalist James LaBrie said the new material had “a heaviness and an aggression to it,” while guitarist John Petrucci said, “The music is progressive, melodic, shredding and it’s also epic…the pillars of Dream Theater.”
The new album, Dream Theater‘s 14th, will be the band’s first for Sony Music‘s progressive imprint InsideOut Music.
