“A Bowie Celebration” is coming to Montreal. Musicians who have played and toured with David Bowie’s through the eras will tour North America together next year under the banner “A Bowie Celebration,” and a date with Montreal is scheduled for March 2, 2019.
The run of dates start later this month, and will continue through into March of 2019. You can see the full list of dates here,
The lineup for “Celebration” includes Bowie alumni Mike Garson, Earl Slick, Gerry Leonard, Carmine Rojas and Mark Plati. These musicians, all with varied backgrounds, span most of Bowie’s output from the ‘70s to the ‘10s. Also onstage are Living Colour singer Corey Glover, Rolling Stones collaborator Bernard Fowler and drummer Lee John, Slick’s son, among others.
The following information was posted on the band’s website: “Join key alumni musicians of David Bowie’s bands from across the decades, anchored by his longest standing member Mike Garson.” The message continues, “We’re gearing up to head back on the road with A Bowie Celebration: The David Bowie Alumni Tour featuring an unforgettable and critically acclaimed evening of Bowie songs with world-class vocalists and an ever rotating mix of hits and deep cuts.”
Also noted on the site is this piece of information: “It’s not a cover band. It’s the actual band. It’s as close as you’re going to get to Bowie.‘”
